Broome to Kununurrra

Explore the stunning scenery of the popular Kimberley. See massive boab trees that dot the landscape, rugged mountain ranges and long winding rivers, that will keep you mesmerized, as well as a variety of wildlife that will keep your camera’s clicking endlessly. Day 1

Today we fly to Broome, where you are meet by your crew. We have a town tour before you explore this pearling town, you can shop for pearls in Chinatown; see dinosaur footprints and birdwatch in Roebuck Bay  Whatever you’re fancy; Broome will captivate you, later to Cable Beach for our evening meal. Cable Beach in Broome in Western Australia’s Kimberley region, is a 22 kilometre-long stretch of pure white sand, set against a backdrop of red ochre cliffs and fringed by the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean.  Motel (D)


Day 2

Today we travel to Derby and the Famous Prison Tree. Derby’s claim to fame is having the highest tides of any Australian port. 11 m (36 feet) of tidal difference means there is an enormous amount of water rushing in and out every 6 hours. Derby calls itself the “Home of the Boab Tree”.  Boabs are used as street trees and give the town a special character.  This is  our evening stop for the night. Motel (B,D)


Day 3

Windjana Gorge is a 3.5 km gorge, carved out of the Napier Range by the Lennard River. The walls on both sides of Windjana Gorge are 30 to 100 metres high, and the gorge is over 100 metres wide. Its here we investigate this wonderful area with its 100’s of crocodiles basking in the sun on the river banks. Tunnel Creek National Park covers 91 hectares in the Napier Range, . The main feature of the park is of course the 750 metre tunnel that a creek has worn through the Napier Range. The tunnel is the oldest cave system in Western Australia. It became famous in the late 1800s. Aboriginal leader and “outlaw” Jandamarra (better known as “Pigeon”) was using the “Cave of Bats” as his hideout. We explore the tunnel, its mysteries before making our way to Fitzroy Crossing. (En-suited Safari Tents) (B,L,D)


Day 4

We start the day with an amazing cruise on Geikie Gorge, just stunning,. Later we travel to the town of Halls Creek, situated in the heart of the Kimberley.  Halls Creek is the gateway to a range of world renowned natural attractions, one being the China Wall, which we visit tomorrow.  But for now we explore the town and settle into our accommodation. Day 5

Leaving Halls Creek we head to Wyndam and the 5 Rivers Lookout, later arriving in Kununurra in the afternoon and  explore this amazing Kimberley town, we visit the diversion dam, Ivanhoe Crossing  and the farmland areas  before arriving at our accommodation. (B,D) Motel


Day 6

After a delicious breakfast , we head to El Questro, stopping at Zebedee Springs for a revitalising dip, before entering the town site,. We take a wonderful cruise through the Chamberlain Gorge. And then later onto Emma Gorge, here you can enjoy a hike to Emma Gorge for a swim. (this walk is not an easy one) In the afternoon we return to Kununurra. (Cruise included in fare) (B) Motel


Day 7

We start the day with a fantastic cruise up the Ord River to Lake Argyle. We spot crocodiles and birdlife before reaching the dam wall, which holds back the equivalent of 21 Sydney Harbour waters. We are met by our driver and taken to the lookout for a stunning view over the lake and Ord River. We settle into our accommodation at Lake Argyle Resort. There will be time to relax, take a swim in the beautiful infinity pool, before our pre dinner drinks and evening meal. “Oh this is the life” (cruise included in fare). Day 8

Sightseeing from the air this morning with Helicopter flights of Lake Argyle and the surrounding area (Optional). From up here we see the vast expansion of the “Lake” in all her splendour. We take a tour of the “Durack Homestead” – a slice of iconic Australian history. The magnificent homestead was originally built in 1895 by the Durack family on Argyle Downs Station (now mostly submerged by the lake).  Later we enjoy a Cruise of the Lake. We soak up the atmosphere and the beauty of the region that is the Kimberley, before enjoying your evening meal. (Cruise included in fare, B)


Day 9

We head back to Kununurra, where you will have some free time to shop for those last minute gifts before being transferred to the Airport for your flights home, after an amazing time in the Kimberley. (B)
