Escape to the amazing and diverse Margaret River region which will tantalise all of your senses. Visit tranquil Bridgetown, Boyup Brook, and the Harvey Dickson Country Music Centre.
Travelling south, we stop for morning tea before arriving into the Margaret River Wine Region, where we enjoy lunch before exploring the stunning Boranup Forest. We drive through this beautiful forest region, home of the pale-barked karri trees reaching up to 60 metres in height. This forest is a re-growth forest which is over 100 years old, stretching several kilometres. Later we settle in to our accommodation for a three-night stop-over, enjoying a pre-dinner drink before our evening meal. (D)
Today we visit the stunning Canal Rocks, a striking, dramatic geological feature on Margaret River. They are an ancient and unusual rock formation, extending from a peninsula south of Smiths Beach on the coastline between the towns of Yallingup and Margaret River. We then travel to Augusta and as you stand where the Indian and Southern Oceans meet, with the wind in your hair, it feels like you’re at the end of the earth. This is where the largest river in the south-west finishes its 325km journey and enters Flinders Bay. In the afternoon we enjoy a wonderful cruise on the river. (B/D)
Today is a very exciting day – whales, whales, whales! Experience and witness the magical behaviour of migrating humpbacks, and southern right and blue whales, in the pristine bays of the spectacular Margaret River Region. This will stay in your memories for a lifetime! Enjoy an informative and interesting commentary by an awesome team who have studied and researched whales for many years. In the afternoon we visit a winery for some wine tastings, before returning to our accommodation. (B/D)
Leaving the wonderful Margaret River area behind, we travel to Pemberton in the lower south-west of the state. All aboard at the Pemberton Railway tram, which meanders through towering karri, marri and jarrah forest, and over trestle bridges spanning rivers and streams along one of Australia’s most majestic rail lines. In the afternoon we travel to Manjimup where we visit the timber and heritage Park, before making our way to Bridgetown for our last evening together. (B/D)
Departing Bridgetown, we head to Boyup Brook to visit the Harvey Dickson Country Music Centre, a mixture of mystery, enchantment and charm and most of all, enjoyable. In short, Harvey Dickson’s Country Music Centre with its unique collection of memorabilia, coupled with its picturesque surroundings makes it an ideal tour destination. Later we travel the South West Highway to Harvey, stopping for lunch. In the afternoon we continue towards Perth with a stopover in Mandurah for a mandatory ice cream stop. (B)
