Stirling Ranges Southern Wildflowers

Our wildflower adventure begins as we leave Perth and journey south along the scenic Albany Highway, travelling through peaceful forest landscapes and rolling countryside alive with seasonal colour. Passing through the charming Wheatbelt town of Pingelly, we continue to the beautiful Boyagin Nature Reserve, a significant flora and fauna sanctuary where we pause for morning tea surrounded by native bushland and birdsong. By evening we arrive in Hyden, gateway to some of WA’s most fascinating natural landscapes. (D)

Today we venture deeper into wildflower country, travelling to Newdegate, one of the Wheatbelt’s best-kept botanical secrets where roadside displays can burst into vibrant colour during spring. Continuing through Lake King and Ravensthorpe, we arrive at the picturesque coastal town of Hopetoun. In the afternoon we explore the spectacular Fitzgerald River National Park, internationally recognised for its extraordinary biodiversity. Here, dramatic coastal cliffs, ancient mountain ranges and over 1,800 species of wildflowers combine to create one of Australia’s most remarkable natural treasures. Overnight in Hopetoun. (B,D)

This morning we travel through Jerramungup and Boxwood Hill before entering the magnificent Stirling Range National Park. Rising dramatically from the surrounding plains, these ancient peaks are home to some of Western Australia’s richest and most spectacular wildflower displays. We stop at the breathtaking Bluff Knoll, where rugged mountain scenery and sweeping views provide the perfect backdrop for discovering rare orchids, colourful heathlands and unique native plants found nowhere else on Earth. With more than 1,500 plant species flourishing here, the Stirling Ranges feel like a living botanical gallery beneath wide southern skies. By evening we arrive in the historic coastal city of Albany. Our final day begins in the beautiful Porongurup National Park, where we visit the fascinating Tree in the Rock, a remarkable natural curiosity tucked amongst ancient granite formations. Travelling onwards through Mount Barker and Kojonup, there is time to admire yet more native wildflowers flourishing across the Great Southern region. We continue through Williams before arriving back in Perth late afternoon, carrying home memories of mountain landscapes, coastal beauty and springtime colour at its most dazzling. (B)
