We are pleased to announce that we’ve added a second tour to Mt Augustus and Walga Rock this year, as the first one is now full. Mt Augustus is quite a popular tourist spot, even though it’s a little bit out of the way for the average traveller. If you’ve never been, you really should put it on your calendar at least once. It is one of the true wonders of Australia, not to mention the largest rock on the planet (it is twice the size of Uluru, and it is believed to date back 1.6 million years). The local Wajarri people call this rock “Burringurrah” (or island mountain), and in the past it was popular for its natural water springs at the base of the rock. It’s a sight to behold. Walga Rock is the other significant stop on this tour. It too, holds great cultural significance, and there is also extensive gallery of Aboriginal art on a cave wall in the rock, including pictures that are said to be of ships that visited the WA coast in the 17th century. On this tour you will have ample time to enjoy both locations. You will also visit Dalwallinu, Cue, Meekatharra, Murchison River, Gascoyne River, Mt Gould Police Station, Landor Race Track, and Lyons River; and daily breakfasts, one lunch, and four dinners are also included.
