The Savannah Way is Australia’s adventure drive, linking the pearling town of Broome in Western Australia’s Kimberley to Cairns in Tropical North Queensland via the natural wonders of Australia’s tropical savannahs and the Northern Territory’s Top End.


Day 1

Today we fly to Broome. After a town tour and motel check-in we enjoy a relaxing evening meal at Cable Beach whilst watching the sun go down. (Dinner included)


Day 2

We travel to Willare Bridge, then Fitzroy Crossing, stopping for boab photos and an afternoon cruise on Geikie Gorge. (Breakfast & Dinner included)


Day 3

On to Halls Creek, site of the first gold discovery in WA. We see the “China Wall”, a natural vein of sub-vertical white quartz rising to 6m above the surrounding country in places. Overnight. (Breakfast & Dinner included)


Day 4

We travel to Warmun for a chance to fly over the Bungle Bungles (own expense). From here we travel to Kununurra, in the heart of the Kimberley. We visit Zebra Rock Gallery, the Ord River diversion dam and Ivanhoe Crossing. (Breakfast & Dinner included)


Day 5

A morning cruise up the Ord River to Lake Argyle, spotting crocodiles and birdlife before reaching the dam wall, which holds back the equivalent of 21 Sydney Harbour waters. Later we stop at a lookout for a stunning view over the lake and Ord River. Tonight, you have time to relax and swim in the Infinity Pool before dinner. (Breakfast & Dinner included)


Day 6

We cross the border to the Northern Territory, passing through open woodland, grass understory, rocky outcrops, kapok trees and the floodplain of the Victoria River system. Later a sunset cruise on the Victoria River, spotting crocodiles along the way. (Breakfast & Dinner included)


Day 7

We continue to Katherine and we take a refreshing dip in the natural thermal springs at Katherine River. (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner included)


Day 8

We start with a breakfast cruise at Nitmiluk Gorge. See mist rising above the smooth water’s surface, hear the wildlife stirring from the night and breathe the crisp clean air in this stunningly beautiful spot. Later we travel to the famous Mataranka thermal pools and Mataranka Homestead, our home for the night. (Breakfast included)


Day 9

We travel to Elsie Station cemetery, then famous Daly Waters Pub. In the past the pub has witnessed murders, shoot outs, and stampeding cattle! Later we stop at historic Newcastle Waters Station in the Barkly Tablelands. Overnight Tennant Creek. (Breakfast & Dinner included)


Day 10

On to Barkly Homestead, then over the Queensland border to Camooweal to visit the Drovers Camp Heritage Centre. (Breakfast & Dinner included)


Day 11

We continue to Mt Isa and Cloncurry via Lake Moondarra. At Cloncurry we visit the John Flynn museum and Mary Kathleen Memorial Park. Sunset drinks and nibbles tonight at the Cloncurry Lookout. (Breakfast & Dinner included)


Day 12

On to Normanton today, stopping at the Burke and Wills Roadhouse, arriving in Normanton early afternoon. Later we drive to Karumba on the Gulf of Carpentaria for a fish and chips dinner and one of the most amazing sunsets you will ever see. (Breakfast & Dinner included)


Day 13

On to Forsayth today, followed by an afternoon cruise on Cobbold Gorge, Queensland’s youngest gorge. (Breakfast & Dinner included)


Day 14

We travel to Mt Surprise and Georgetown, which boasts some of the best gemstone areas, and one of the finest attractions in Queensland – the Ted Elliott Mineral Collection at TerrEstrial. We also visit the Cumberland Chimney. (Breakfast & Dinner included)


Day 15

We continue to Cairns, stopping for a tour of the Undara Lava Tubes at the Undara National Park on the way. (Breakfast & Dinner included)


Day 16

A morning visit to Kuranda, the well-known arts and crafts village in the naturally beautiful rainforest. After shopping and relaxing you will be transferred to the airport for your flight home. (Breakfast included)
