The Gibb River Road is just one part of the epic road trip through the amazing wilderness of the Kimberley, with massive boabs doting the landscape, and breathtaking scenery all around.
Day 1
Fly to Broome where you are greeted by your Aussie Redback crew. We enjoy some free time in the town centre for lunch, and later we visit some of Broome’s attractions before arriving at our accommodation. (D) Motel
Day 2
A visit to Derby at the mouth of the Fitzroy River. We visit Myalls Bore and Cattle Trough, then the Prison Boab Tree. Onto the Gibb River Road and down to Windjana Gorge, where we take a walk through the gorge, a stunning location in the Kimberley. (B,D) Tent
Day 3
This morning we visit Tunnel Creek, which has carved a tunnel through the Napier Range and once Jandamarra’s hideout. We head back to the Gibb River Road and travel through the stunning King Leopold Ranges to Bell Gorge, for a swim in this iconic Kimberley waterhole. Tonight, we camp at Silent Grove (B,L,D) Tent
Day 4
Our first stop today will be at the Imintji Roadhouse before a visit to the amazing Galvan’s Gorge, here we can enjoy a swim and view Aboriginal Artwork. Later its onto Mt Barnett and we camp at Manning Gorge. In the afternoon you have time to enjoy this magical spot and take a swim in the wonderful Manning Creek waterhole. (B,D) Tent
Day 5
Back on the Gibb River Road, we visit Ellenbrae Station and enjoy freshly made scones and cream for morning tea. Later we arrive at the junction of the Gibb River and Kalumburu Road and continue to Drysdale River Station. In the afternoon there is time to take an optional scenic flight over the Mitchell Falls in the remote far north. (B,L,D) Tent. Scenic Flight not included, approx $400.
Day 6
We returning to the Gibb River Road and reach the East Kimberley. Reaching Home Valley Station, the pastoral lease sits in the shadow of the amazing Cockburn Range. In the afternoon we head to the lookout for a view of the Pentecost River and Cockburn Range sunset. (B,L) Tent
Day 7
We cross the mighty Pentecost River today and spend the day exploring the gorges and sights of El Questro Station, Zebedee Hot Springs, and Emma Gorge. Later in the afternoon we arrive in Kununurra on the Ord River for 3 nights. (B,D) Motel
Day 8
This morning there is time to take an optional flight over Lake Argyle and the Bungle Bungle National Park. Later in the day we visit some of Kununurra’s attractions, the old Ivanhoe Crossing, Mirima National Park, diversion Dam and the farmlands of the area. (B) Motel. Note: Bungles Flight not included, approx. $425.
Day 9
This morning we cruise 55 km along the Ord River from Kununurra to Lake Argyle. Free time to enjoy this wonderful spot in the Kimberley. There is an optional helicopter flight over the area before we head back to our accommodation. (B,D) Motel. Note: Cruise included in fare; Helicopter not included approx. $165
Day 10
Leaving Kununurra, we continue through the stunning Carr Boyd and the Durack Ranges. We have morning tea at Warmun and then continue on to our Bungle Bungle Camp for 2 nights. Afternoon helicopter flights over the Purnululu National Park are available. (B,D) Tent. Helicopter flight not included approx. $350.
Day 11
Deep into the National Park today, exploring Cathedral Gorge and the Domes Walk. The view and sights in the Purnululu National Park are breathtaking and stunning. Later in the afternoon we return to camp. (B,L,D) Tent.
Day 12
A short drive this morning to Halls Creek, gold was first discovered in WA in 1884. An afternoon stop at Mary River and then onto Fitzroy Crossing on the Fitzroy River. (B,D) Tent.
Day 13
A morning cruise of the tranquil waters of Geikie Gorge before heading to Willare Bridge for lunch before return to Broome. (B,D) Cruise included in fare. Motel
Day 14
A free morning relaxing in and around Broome and maybe a visit to the famous Broome markets before your flight home. (B)
