As mentioned in a previous post, Matilda our mascot travels with us on all tours, whether they be extended tours or the occasional day tour from Perth.  For a bit of fun, we decided that Matilda should "report" back on our tours (via our secret third party), and here is her latest news about a day tour she was on recently.  Sit back and enjoy! One Day Tour to the Avon Valley, WA "Here I am again, your favourite Redback Roving Reporter  - "Matilda", reporting on my recent day tour with Aussie Redback Tours to the Avon Valley.  My place, as always, was on the dashboard, looking out at the amazing scenery but also looking at our wonderful passengers, all seniors, who were bursting with adventure and enthusiasm.  Our day tour took us along beautiful country roads, over rolling hills, and along the famous Avon River (well-known the for annual Avon River Descent). First stop was Toodyay for a delicious morning tea, followed by plenty of free time to explore this delightful country town. No rushing around with Aussie Redback Tours!  We were fortunate to be there when the markets were on, so we made the most of that opportunity.  (Not much for spiders but plenty for everyone else to enjoy)!  And of course, we all visited the famous Christmas Shop and came out with bags of goodies! (I dare anyone to go in there and not come out with something)! We then made our way to Northam, learning all about it's history and current news and events.  After that it was on to York (the oldest inland town in WA).  We had a delicious lunch by the Avon River, followed by more free time to explore this historical town, including the fascinating motor museum which is in the main

Somebody recently asked me why I enjoy touring our country as a driver and guide, with the majority of my passengers being seniors (or pensioners). It got me thinking and took me back to 1998 when I had my first experience with senior travellers. That tour was to depart from Perth and travel through central Australia, and I was the roustabout. As we rounded the bend to the departure point, 48 senior passengers, most from Western Australia, were waiting eagerly to board the coach for the adventure of their lifetime. The tour was one that many had dreamt about doing for most of their younger years, but had never found or had the time to do, until later on. Most had retired, or hubby or wife have passed on and now they felt like they could embark on new adventures and make new friends. All the senior passengers greeted each other, some like they had known each other for a lifetime, some a bit nervous and some a little hesitant. I don’t think I have ever seen a happier group of elderly passengers, which in turn made me very excited and happy, as this was also my first experience to the unknown outback. I have to admit, I was also a little worried about whether the passengers would like me as a staff member. As it turned out, I got on with everyone famously and loved the stories and the jokes and the company more than I had enjoyed the company of my own age group. I found that our wonderful seniors all had a story to tell about the trials and tribulations of their lives, some were funny, some were very sad, some had struggled all their lives, working as farmers and station owners. One Day Trip to Noble Falls, Jurien, Cervantes and Moore River "Here I am, your favourite Redback Roving Reporter  - "Matilda", reporting on my first day trip with Aussie Redback Tours.   Sharon and Renata were so much fun to travel with.  I thoroughly enjoyed Sharon’s driving – she is the best driver I’ve ever seen, and although I think I could have done better because I have 8 arms (or legs if you wish), I knew my place (on the dashboard) and sat back and enjoyed the view instead.  The tour host Renata was such a pleasant person to be around, and those muffins and cookies we had for morning tea were to die for! (Oops, probably the wrong thing to say, being a redback)!   The day was perfect – blue skies, soft breeze, twittering birds, rolling hils, and lovely passengers (seniors and artists, males and females) to chat with and pass the time of day with.  We visited Noble Falls, the lovely seaside towns of Jurien and Cervantes (where we had a very delightful lobster lunch), and Moore River (where we all gathered for our group photo.  A lovely day was had by all (including me)!" Hello everyone We are so excited about getting our little business off the ground and onto the road!  We've had heaps of inquiries already and many people have received our first brochure filled with various tours around our wonderful country.  Our first trip in the brochure is a one day "Get to Know Us - Mystery Tour" on the 30th of August 2015.  It's only $85 for Seniors and $90 for Adults and that includes morning tea and lunch and a wonderful day out in the WA countryside.  Where are we going, you ask?  Well, we can't tell you because it's a "mystery"!  Why not book and find out. Apart from our day tours, why not have a look at our extended tours which are affordable and value-for-money with shorter distances and more attractions.  Bear in mind, numbers are limited on extended tours (no more than 25 passengers), so you'll need to book early to secure your spot.
