Aussie Redback Tours has put together a four-day tour to the annual Boyup Brook Country Music Festival, with the promise of a toe-tapping, hip-swinging long weekend in February 2019. Come with us to remember 100  years since the end of the first world war Remembrance Day in Albany this year will be even bigger than it has in the past, as it celebrates 100 years since the end of World War 1. Albany is the oldest colonial settlement in Western Australia, founded in 1826 as a military outpost of New South Wales, and it was the last port of call for troopships departing Australia in the First World War, which makes this year's event even more significant. To be part of this important event, we have planned a 4-day tour to Albany, departing Perth on Saturday 10 November and returning on Tuesday 13 November 2018. The trip includes a visit to the Field of Lights - a fabulous light installation along the Avenue of Honor at Mt Clarence. The exhibition was created by Bruce Munro, the same artist who installed the light display at Uluru which has received widespread acclaim. The light installation at Albany pays homage to the ANZACs and includes 13,000 white, yellow and gold shining spheres marking the last sight of home for 41,000 troops who departed from Albany for the Great War. Also included in the tour are three breakfasts, three dinners, visits to the award-winning National ANZAC Centre, Princess Royal Forts, the Albany Convict Museum,  the Gap, the Natural Bridge, Greens Pool, Elephant Rocks, and a Walpole Inlet cruise. Who would have thought that such a combination would go together?! Aussie Redback Tours are pleased to announce that they have planned a tour that will include all of these and more. Commencing on Sat 06 October 2018, and running for 6 days, the tour includes a visit to Australia’s biggest celebration of spring – Floriade, in Canberra – which showcases garden bed designs, colour, pattern and movement over 8,000 sqm of inner parkland. It includes over 100 varieties of tulips, pansies, violas, irises, hyacinths, ranunculus and more. You will be gobsmacked at the size and beauty of this event. Whilst in the ACT, the tour also includes a visit to Parliament House, the National Gallery of Australia, the National War Memorial and the Embassy District – all remarkable and interesting in their own right. After the ACT, the tour continues to historical Jindabyne, then the Snowy Mountains and the alpine village of Thredbo. The sights from the top of the mountain are breathtaking! The last two days include a trip to the Murrumbidgee River and the famous “Dog on the Tuckerbox”. There’s a drive through the border cities of Albury in NSW and Wodonga in Vic, a visit to Kelly country to see where Ned Kelly and his mother were tried and imprisoned, and an animated re-enactment of Ned Kelly’s capture at the Glenrowan Hotel. You may be wondering what cherries, gnomes and country music have in common. They are all part of Aussie Redback Tours two-day tour in December. The “Manjimup Cherry Festival / Gnomesville” tour departs on Saturday the 9th of December and returns on the 10th, and is a wonderful way to get away before the crazy Christmas season begins. This is a very popular tour, and last year we were fully booked.  On this tour we have such an interesting time pondering over stalls, visiting exhibits, tasting cherries, and enjoying the good old country charm of Manjimup. We stay in Bridgetown for the night and enjoy a delicious dinner and breakfast, then visit the famous Harvey Dickson Music Centre in Boyup Brook on Sunday morning. What a fascinating place! These are words that people often associate with Tasmania, along with "rugged", "forests", and "apple isle". Tasmania, or "Tassie" as it is colloquially named, is a very popular tourist spot for Australians and overseas visitors. It has such a diverse range of spectacular scenery, abundant wildlife, gourmet food and wine, and it's a perfect island to explore in a short time. Since the first European sighting in 1642, Tassie has seen many changes - politically, socially, and environmentally, and its history is a mix of good and bad. It has seen tensions between early settlers and the Aboriginals; the establishment of convict-based settlements; its proclamation as a separate colony in 1856; major loss of life and property in the 1976 Tasmanian Fires; the Port Arthur massacre in 1996, and the Beaconsfield mine collapse in 2006. It is also known for the extinction of the Tasmanian tiger - a stripe-backed marsupial which resembled a wild dog. Whilst there is a lot of bad history, the state of Tasmania has used the adversity to establish itself as a major tourist destination, and tourists flock there every year.
